My Thoughts (Beware potential vague spoilers):
A Little Bit Obsessed was such a chaotic, darkly funny, and addictive read that completely pulled me in from the beginning and had me giggling often. This book perfectly balances dark romance elements with surprisingly witty humor and emotional vulnerability. The combination of obsession, danger, forced proximity, and morally gray characters created a story that felt intense while still being weirdly comforting in the best possible way.

The MMC, Wes absolutely stole the show for me. He was my favorite character in this story, although his brother was a close second (I hope we get his story next hint hint). Wes is a masked serial killer who bakes pies and it absolutely should not work as well as it does, Somehow, through some type of writing wizardry Chrissy Hopewell makes him both terrifying, incredibly lovable and a bit of a dork. His protective extreme obsession (read stalking) over Callie walked the perfect line between possessive and emotionally soft.

Meanwhile, Callie brought a grounded emotional depth to the story that kept everything balanced. Watching her slowly reclaim herself after years of manipulation and abuse added a strong emotional layer underneath all the chaos and spice.

The writing style flowed easily, the banter landed well, and the pacing kept me engaged throughout. I found myself laughing one minute and clutching my reader in concern the next. It made for a quick read as well, didn’t drone on or make it a slow burn.

What Worked for Me:
• The dark romcom vibe felt fresh and genuinely entertaining.
• Wes was the perfect morally gray MMC, he was obsessive, protective, dangerous, but still emotionally layered, goofy and someone somehow you could relate too.
• The chemistry between Wes and Callie was immediate (the first meeting…iykyk…hysterical) and intense.
• I loved the “touch her and die” energy throughout the book. I usually do but this was written exceedingly well in my honest opinion. I have found that it can be difficult to achieve in this dark romantic comedy genre.
• The forced proximity scenes created some of the best tension and emotional development. The first scene with the FMC x MMC was iconic and hysterical.
• The supporting characters were excellent, already the author was building hilarious but dark backstory for them. I desperately hope we learn more about baking granny and I hope she is in future books (iykyk).
• The emotional healing aspects underneath the romance gave the story more depth.
• The spice was explicit, emotional, and fit the characters naturally.

What Didn’t Work for Me:
• Some readers may find Wes’s obsessive behavior too extreme, even within the dark romance genre. It was intense but honestly, I thought it was perfect, the reason that he was such an intriguing character and the way the author had to write him to make him a favorite for the reader.
• Certain plot moments leaned heavily into chaos and suspension of disbelief. I think that if you are a fan of dark rom-com genre then you already know how to suspend disbelief and have a laugh.
• The tonal shifts between humor and violence might not work for every reader. I would say you do have to have a bit of a darker sense of humor to really enjoy the wit and banter of the characters and the humor mixing with violence.

Things to Consider Before You Read:
This is absolutely a dark romance with heavy themes and morally questionable characters. While the humor softens parts of the story, the darker content is still very present. My suggestion is that readers who might be sensitive to stalking, violence, abuse, or kidnapping elements should review content warnings carefully before reading. Protect your mental health, be kind to yourself.

The romance also contains possessive and obsessive behaviors that are intentionally romanticized within the context of the story and genre.

If you enjoy:
• masked stalker romances
• morally gray MMCs
• serial killer romances
• black cat x golden retriever dynamics
• dark humor mixed with spice
• touch-her-and-die energy
…then this book will probably work very well for you.

A Little Bit Obsessed was messy, dark, spicy, emotional, and wildly entertaining for me. Chrissy Hopewell delivered a romance that fully embraces the absurdity of its premise while still giving readers emotional depth and compelling character growth. That is a tricky complexity to write and I believe she hit it out of the park on this one. If you enjoy dark romances with obsessive MMCs, strong chemistry, humor woven into the darkness, and chaotic “good for her” energy, this one is worth picking up.

This book won’t be for everyone, but for the right dark romance reader, it’s incredibly addictive.

Neurospicy: I will be continuing the series but rent free in my head the first scene of the two main characters meeting. Definitely read this book if you’re neurodivergent, it is perfect for us with the brain spice or sparkle.
