New Series Alert: The Dopamine Dispatch Chronicles

Where neuroscience meets absolute chaos… and somehow (I have no idea how exactly) we all make it out alive.

If you’ve spent any amount of time in the Neurospicy After Dark Archive (like all 2 of you, so graciously following me, thank you, you know who you are), you’ve probably realized that this isn’t your typical book blog.

Sure, we obsess over morally gray fictional men, rate books by chili peppers, and regularly add to our already impossible TBRs…

But we also talk about what it’s like to live in a beautifully chaotic neurodivergent brain.

That’s where The Dopamine Dispatch Chronicles comes in.

This will be my attempt to advocate for neurodiversity through education and my perspectives.

What Is The Dopamine Dispatch Chronicles?

The Dopamine Dispatch Chronicles is (and will be) an ongoing series dedicated to exploring, educating and advocating the wonderfully weird world of neurodivergence through science, humor, lived experience, and a healthy dose of gothic librarian energy.

Think of it as dispatches sent directly from the ADHD, autistic, AuDHD, dyslexic, OCD, and otherwise neurospicy brain.

Some editions may dive deep into neuroscience and current research.

Others may simply ask the important questions, like:

  • Why did I walk into this room?
  • Why have I listened to the same song 137 times today?
  • Why can I memorize a fantasy family tree but forget where I put my coffee or keys?
  • Is this hyperfixation… or have I adopted another hobby I’ll abandon in two weeks? (If you know, you know.)

What You’ll Find Here:

Every edition of the chronicle is (and will be) different, but topics may include:

  • ADHD, Autism & AuDHD
  • Executive Function & Productivity
  • Dopamine and Motivation
  • Hyperlexia, Reading & Learning
  • Communication Differences
  • Masking & Burnout
  • Mental Health & Emotional Regulation
  • Evidence-Based Neuroscience
  • Neurodivergent Memes & Humor
  • Book Characters Through a Neurodivergent Lens
  • Everyday Chaos We Somehow Survive

Why “Dispatch”?

Because my brain rarely arrives in chronological order. The order posting won’t make sequential nor logical sense to anyone but me.

Ideas appear at 2 a.m while heading to the bathroom mid-sleep.

Idea appear at 11am while coming out from a patient’s room.

Ideas appear at 430am while in my backyard training/working my Australian Cattledog prior to a 12 hour shift.

I lose my train of thought…
…and somehow circle back twenty minutes later with three new tabs open and an entirely different research paper.

The Dopamine Dispatch Chronicles embraces that wonderfully nonlinear way of thinking.

These aren’t lectures.

They’re dispatches from inside the organized chaos.

Science Matters Here!

While humor is absolutely welcome, misinformation is not.
Whenever possible, topics are grounded in current research and evidence-based medicine.

I’ll always distinguish between established science, emerging research, personal experience, and opinion.
Because being neurospicy doesn’t mean we stop loving good data.

Everyone Is Welcome!

Whether you’re:

  • newly diagnosed,
  • self-discovering,
  • supporting someone you love,
  • a healthcare professional,
  • an educator,or simply curious,
… you are and will always be welcome here.

No gatekeeping.

No judgment.

Just curiosity, learning, and maybe a skeleton librarian reminding you where you left your dopamine.

So grab a coffee (or your emotional support beverage of choice or all three), silence the seventeen notifications you forgot about or are ignoring, and settle into the stacks.

There are plenty of dispatches still waiting to be filed.

Until next time…
May your executive function cooperate, your hyperfixation stay entertaining, and your dopamine arrive before your Amazon book preorder.
